Anxiety & Perfectionism

Anxiety is a normal stress response but when it becomes overwhelming and disrupts daily life, it may be a sign that you need more support. Challenges with sleep, physical sensations, not being able to shut off your brain, having trouble concentrating or feeling unmotivated, fear of new situations or being with people are signs of anxiety. Different types of anxiety (generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic attack, phobia) can show up in myriad ways.
Whereas perfectionism makes you constantly feel that others are watching or judging you, or maybe you ‘could have’ done things differently. After all you are the one who has done it all, checked all the boxes-gave it your everything leaving no stone unturned. Yet somehow, the nagging feeling of the what if(s), should(s) have and must(s) have linger, or you feel disconnected from the things you enjoyed. Perfectionism coupled with anxiety can also show up as procrastination, fear of outcomes, a feeling of unease, imposter syndrome, feeling judged or feeling overwhelmed -all of which can disrupt daily life making you feel less than or inauthentic.
